In the third participation in Star Citizen esports this year, the immersive game environment presented an exhilarating possibility. While the Race Organization functions admirably as a sports federation-like entity, there’s potential for improvement. Investing in refining the rules of engagement and infrastructure would enhance the consistency of the experience.
This improvement could also mean that the Race Organization and other SC esports teams can focus on race performance. Drawing parallels with traditional sports, additional support and resources could solidify the foundation they’ve laid, potentially bringing more teams and sponsors to the various starting lines. Esports is akin to the Formula 1 of IT, and this analogy resonates within the community.
Despite the excitement to join the Daymar Rally this year, several challenges were encountered on the S2-EU-bike server (buggy division image featured). The server faced significant difficulties getting started, and unfortunately, the race couldn’t happen at all. The issues included a lengthy briefing, the game’s incapacity to handle the event, prolonged waiting times due to server 30k issues, malfunctioning bots, and teams not adhering to preparation rules in Discord. While there is immense respect for the Race Organization for hosting such a large-scale event, addressing these challenges, such as dedicated servers and better support from CIG, would further elevate the experience.
Despite these hurdles, the positive communication and vibrant atmosphere from the Race Organization are genuinely appreciated, and they are encouraged to persist in their commendable efforts. Additionally, the opportunity to share this experience with fellow community members was great.
