Every Friday night, members of the TTO Community come together on Discord and check out multiplayer games together. This time, they tried browser game ‘Death By AI’. This is a survival Party Game, stepping into a world where AI holds all the cards. Will it be your ally, or will it pull the plug? After a few rounds, here’s an expanded version of what happened.
The Story So Far
In a decaying insignificant town, survival is a daily struggle against the relentless hordes of the undead. The TTO Community Center, once a place of safety, now stands as a last bastion against the encroaching darkness. Illusive stands on a desk from his cool office and is billowing out incoherent assignments to those still willing to listen.
Oddball and Charlie, two veterans of past zombie wars, stand ready with a FLAMMENWERFER. As a new zombie horde surges forward, the pair unleashes a torrent of fire, lighting the night sky with fiery explosions. The heat from the inferno scorches the undead, causing them to crumple and fall in the streets below. For a brief moment, the chaos subsides, and the surviving members of the community hold their breath in relief.
An Heroic Sacrifice
As the flames from the fiery device flicker out, they reveal a larger, more terrifying threat—a colossal behemoth announces its presence with a deafening roar. Its towering form casts a long shadow in the moonlight, threatening the fragile peace they’ve fought so hard to maintain. Oddball and Charlie rally their nerves, preparing for the battle of their lives.
As the behemoth charges, Charlie, already wounded from the earlier fight, pushes through the pain, determined to protect his TTO friends. Using all of his strength, he manages to climb a nearby wreckage and hurl a makeshift explosive directly at the behemoth’s head. He briefly sees a flashback of an old training exercise accident in deep space. The thought is roughly brushed aside as a deafening blast impacts the massive creature. The behemoth staggers, before it collapses with a thunderous crash. The monstrous entity is defeated, but the victory comes at a heavy price. Charlie, gravely injured and drained of strength, succumbs to his wounds moments after the behemoth falls. He looks downward and notices a metal rod with a STOP-sign sticking out. Oddball and Illusive rush to his side, but it’s too late—Charlie breathes his last, having sacrificed himself to save the others.
The Aftermath of the Blast
In the aftermath, CitizenRed finds himself cornered within the remains of the community center, surrounded by the relentless undead. Desperation flickers in his eyes as he remembers the mini-nuke tucked away in his backpack from the last FalloutCon—a last-ditch effort to save what little remains of their world. With a determined stride, avoiding the clawing horde, CitizenRed moves to the center of the room. With a steady hand and a prayer on his lips, he arms the device and prepares to detonate it, hoping to obliterate the zombie horde once and for all.
From outside, the explosion is a blinding flash, followed by a deafening roar. The mini-nuke detonates with devastating force, but its blast radius is apparently contained—a small but powerful enough explosion to obliterate the community center and the surrounding undead. As the dust settles, a smoldering spinning dark-red helmet is all that is left.
Piece of Candy
Moments before the detonation, Locktree had sensed the growing desperation in CitizenRed and realized that drastic measures were imminent. Amid the chaos, he quickly devised a plan to lead the remaining survivors—Oddball, BlueEyedHero, and Stally ‘Lick My Toes’—out of the crumbling community center. In a strange but effective strategy, Locktree placed a trail of candy, a sugary beacon to guide his friends through the darkened streets. Under the faint light of the moon, the group blindly and quickly followed the candy path, their eager footsteps a stark contrast to the stillness of the night.
The candy was even able to break BlueEyedHero‘s concentration, as he was so focused on handling ammunitions inventory. But the sweet scent of the candy also attracted a pack of ravenous zombies, which sprang to life, surrounding the unsuspecting group. In the ensuing chaos, panic set in, and the makeshift alliance crumbled. The group scattered, each member fighting for their life in the darkness. Locktree, trampled by the undead, was the third TTO member to fall, marking the definitive continuation of a grim end for the group.
Coming For That Booty
Stally, separated from the others, stumbles upon an old minigolf course, its bright colors now faded and overgrown. Desperation drives him forward as he navigates through the derelict obstacles. But in the shadows, he missed one of the course’s water traps, still filled with stagnant, murky water. Unaware, Stally steps onto the false bridge leading to the next hole. The flimsy structure collapses beneath him, plunging him into the trap below. As he struggles to climb out, the sound of his splashing draws the attention of nearby zombies. Time started to slow down for a few seconds, while he noticed that one of the rushing zombies was wearing his favorite ‘Swinity Swooty’ t-shirt brand. It made him smile as the creatures swarmed the area, their grasping hands pulling Stally further down into the water, where his struggles quickly fade, leaving only ripples behind.
A Cunning Betrayal
As the night deepens, Oddball finds himself alone, confined in the outer zone of the crumbling walls of the community center. The survivors are scattered, and the undead are closing in fast. With no time to lose and fear gripping his heart, Oddball hatches a desperate, unorthodox plan. Knowing that survival might require ruthless measures, Oddball decides to lure BlueEyedHero and Illusive—two companions who had been a part of the group—into a deadly trap.
Using the madness of the zombie attack as cover, Oddball manipulates the situation, leading BlueEyedHero and Illusive into a corner where they are overwhelmed by the undead. As the two struggle against the horde, Oddball uses the distraction to make a swift escape out the back door. Riddled with guilt and fear but driven by the instinct to survive, Oddball sprints away, hoping that his plan worked and that another day might be in sight. The night air is cold, and the sounds of battle fade into the distance as Oddball disappears into the shadows, leaving behind the smoldering ruins of the community center and the grim realization that in this world.
One With The Shadows
Mrs. Locktree finds herself standing on the fifth floor of a towering, crumbling high-rise building. The once-proud structure now looms like a ghost, its broken windows and fractured walls a testament to the devastation that has befallen the town. What has the world become? She clutches her sniper weapon tightly, her eyes scanning the darkened streets for any sign of movement when a deafening blast and blinding light is seen.
In the distance, through the faint light of the moon, she spots three figures moving quickly and stealthily through the streets. Her heart skips a beat as she recognizes the familiar silhouettes—it’s Oddball, BlueEyedHero, and Illusive. Mrs. Locktree watches intently as Oddball maneuvers the others through the maze of rubble into a building, followed by a loud recording shouting, “Some of Us May Die, But That’s A Sacrifice I’m Willing to Make.” The lingering zombies immediately pick up on it, and bone-chilling screams can be heard.
Moments later, she sees how one shape slips away from the chaos of the community center and into the night. Conflicting emotions swirl within her—relief that someone might make it out alive, anger at the betrayal of comrades, and a deep, gnawing sense of despair at the grim reality of their world.
The shadows conceal her presence as she watches Oddball merging with the darkness, leaving her alone in the desolate, crumbling remains of what was once a thriving community. The world has become a place where survival often means sacrificing others, and Mrs. Locktree knows that nothing will ever be the same again. She cocks her rifle, the familiar metallic click echoing in the silence. Pausing for a moment, she quickly checks the ammo in the chamber, ensuring it’s fully loaded. Satisfied, she disappears into the night.
