The AI team delved into refining AI-driven initiatives for Alpha 3.23, introducing improvements like smoother NPC transit and enhanced elevator usage. They also tackled the complex task of generating navigation meshes on planets, crucial for supporting NPC activities in outpost locations. Additionally, advancements in AI behavior for spaceship combat were integrated into the new Arena Commander mode, ensuring dynamic and engaging gameplay experiences for players.
The Core Gameplay pillar witnessed extensive efforts to unify and refine gameplay features across different game modes. From porting SQ42 features to the Persistent Universe to enhancing player interactions and refining gameplay mechanics, the team worked diligently to enrich the player experience. Noteworthy progress was made in implementing the cargo update, including the development of cargo freight elevators, instanced hangars, and commodity trading changes, setting the stage for deeper immersion and emergent gameplay opportunities.
